The solid conviction behind Edward Hughes's pots
Alex McErlain visits the Cumbrian pottery of Edward Hughes.
Hughes spent time as a student at Winchcombe Pottery before a scholarship took him to Japan where he studied and then set up a studio. After 7 years he returned to the UK and has since combined working here with regular selling exhibitions in both countries.
His work combines an interest in slipware with oriental stoneware. Technical notes include recipes for Temmoku, Celadon and opaque ash glazes, cone 10-11.
