The tactile tablewares of slipcasting designer maker Andrew Wicks, plus a critical overview from Philip Hughes.
After a degree in three-dimensional design and an MA at the Royal College, Andrew Wicks set up his studio to produce a range of tablewares. He exploits the slipcasting process to make batch production wares which he subtly alters with surface details and lustrous glazes.
Philip Hughes, gallery director of Ruthin Craft Centre, gives casts a critical eye over the work.
Technical notes include description of production process; firings 1250C electric kiln.
