Tradition and invention work together in unpredicatable ways
Steve Harrison is inspired by two objects:a beautifully made but empty wooden gun box and an 18th century cabbage teapot. His latest work, faceted teapots and teabowls with bespoke wooden carrying cases, takes elements of each.
The teapot is made on the wheel but, unusually, is thrown into a mould to acheive the facets.
A full making sequence explains the process, which is deceptively difficult and requires both precision and a steady hand.
