An unusual journey unravelled
How did a large slipware plate made by Edwin Beer Fishley, of Fremington Pottery, near Barnstaple in Devon come to be housed in the Nihon Mingeikan, Toyko, the Folk Crafts Museum of Japan?
Elizabeth and Vivian Jones unravel the story, which takes in the weaver Ethel Mairet, Soetsu Yanagi, Shoji Hamada and Bernard Leach.
