Susan Nemeth's sequence reveals her approach to inlaid colour and pattern
A full making sequence takes us through the processes involved in Susan Nemeth's inlaid vessels. Clays are mixed with oxides and body stains and worked to the right consistency before being rolled out into sheets. A collage of different clays is built up on a base sheet. Once joined the clay is draped over a plaster hump mould and gently stretched into a bowl form.
Nemeth is inspired by a diverse range of artists from Ben Nicholson to Henri Matisse, to fifties porceain tableware and cookery books.
