Julie Ayton has a dual role as potter and teacher at Salisbury Art Centre
Julie Ayton took up her place at Salisbury Art Centre in 1990 and has taught pottery classes with great success. As Artist in Residence she is able to combiine teaching with the production of her ranges of simple tablewares both in stoneware and porcelain, fired to cone 9, reduction.
Simon Olding visits the the crypt of St Edmunds Church in Salisbury, where Julie works.
Technical notes include recipes for cream and slate blue stoneware glazes and for porcelain – satin white, transparent, silky green and a blue celadon.
