'Claudi Casanovas’s new 'Bloc' pieces are large, energetic and rock-like in appearance. The more literal references to early Mediterranean ceramics, seen in his previous work, are completely pared down. His work now focuses on expressing the essence and energy of the clay through a process of continual investigation and experimentation to ‘reveal the inner truth of the material,’ as he puts it.'
