Barbara Wakefield meets potter Margaret Rey, student of Staite Murray, along with Sam Haile, at the RCA in the 1930s
Potter and sculptor Margaret Rey graduated from the Royal College of Art having been taught by William Staite Murray, alongside Henry Hammond, James Wood, Heber Matthews and Sam Haile with whom she set up a studio in the 1930s. Rey's wheel was featured in the famous BBC interlude film 'The Potters Wheel'. Still making sculptural ceramics today she shares some memories and recipes (reduction fired glazes to 1250C) with Barbara Wakefield.
