William Plumptre’s inlaid, ash glazed, reduction-fired pots
"When discussing glazes, Plumptre uses the language of a potter involved in investigating local supplies. Ingredients are described in the broadest terms: as ‘a stone’, ‘an ash’ and ‘some clay’." Alex McErlain visits William Plumptre's pottery in the Lake District to discover the intricacies of his reduction-fired ceramics, which successfully make use of long-established techniques.
Includes recipes for Wood-ash, Nuka, Temmoku and Slate glazes to Orton Cone 11.
