Fiona Sibley traces new developments in Vivienne Foley’s porcelain forms
Inspired by ancient Chinese porcelain, Vivienne Foley’s body of vessels and sculpture is the offspring of a sustained inquiry into the technical possibilities of the material. Elegant, classical and bird-like vases sit beside abstract, cellular bone structures and molluscs, creating a formal range not usually seen in porcelain, in dramatic hues of white and black. In this four-page feature, Fiona Sibley traces the developments leading to Foley's new abstract organic works.
