Edith Garcia’s fragmented figures resonate with inner feelings.
Edith Garcia’s figures are absorbing for their way of externalising inner psychologies, as though they are written physically onto the body. With sometimes disturbing effect, her groups of creatures deal with themes of growing up and mixing an emerging adult perspective with layers and fragments of childhood feelings - often fears. After growing up in Mexico, Garcia began her work in the USA and now works in London. In this four-page feature, Garcia describes her own journey and approach to her work.
