Ambitious thrown vessels from Nicholas Arroyave-Portela
Emmanuel Cooper looks as the work of this London-based potter who has used the art of throwing to explore his interest in containment and surface. His inspiration comes from the delicate play of light on sheer fabrics. His rippled forms echo the surface of a body of water.
A full two-page colour making sequence reveals the skill of Arroyave-Portela to throw a pot up to 50cm tall in one piece.
Technical notes include details of clay body and terra sigillata.
