CR spots: Top Drawer 2016

Top Drawer is a carefully curated, design-led craft fair that presents work by both top names and emerging talents. This year, CR looks forward to exploring the fair’s distinctive new ‘worlds’ (Home, Gift, Fashion and Craft) and to seeing where ceramics sits within this celebration of contemporary design. As Top Drawer 2016 approaches, CR‘s Assistant Editor, Katherine Caddy, takes us through her ‘ones to watch’

Eva Radulova is a fresh graduate from Staffordshire University and a newcomer to Top Drawer. We’re looking forward to seeing Reflect, her new eclectic collection inspired by the notion of a fusion between east and west.

This matt porcelain ceramic collection is on our radar for its boldness of form and delicacy of palette.
Sue Ure has established a firm reputation for combining cool contemporary design with classic craft skills.

We’re fascinated by this collection of work by ceramic artist Aimee Bollu. Described as a ‘hoard’, recent works
see Aimee seeking out objects that have lost their function or been neglected, bringing them back to life.

CR noticed Sian Patterson’s ceramics at Handmade in Britain’s Chelsea show during 2015.
We’re interested in the subtlety of Sian’s glazes and are keen to learn more.

Assemble
Having been awarded the Turner Prize just a matter of weeks ago, exploring aspects of this regeneration
enterprise is a much-anticipated element of Top Drawer 2016. Find Assemble at the fair’s
‘Talent Hub’, and look out for these carefully burnished clay cabinet handles.

Keith Brymer Jones
There is a chance to meet ceramist and Great Pottery Throw Down judge Keith Brymer Jones at Top Drawer this year. Keith will throw at his potter’s wheel and you can join him afterwards at the ‘Academy Live’, where he will talk about his
