SPODE WORKS, STOKE-ON-TRENT. ST4 1QD
This year’s British Ceramics Biennial (BCB), the UK’s largest contemporary ceramics festival, returns to Stoke-on-Trent this autumn and will feature a selection of work from Slip Tales, a community project led by BCB Associate Artist Sue Blatherwick. The project sought to build community cohesion and improved well-being through the mindful exploration and reinterpretation of Staffordshire’s rich slipware tradition. The BCB website writes: “Each piece is a personal response... a record of a moment in the maker’s lives that has led them to Stoke-on-Trent.” The work on display from this project gives an insight
into BCB’s year-round programming. This year’s festival includes exhibitions, screenings, talks, and community events, celebrating Stoke-on- Trent’s industrial past and giving a platform to both leading ceramic artists and emerging talent. You will be able to find Sue in the public engagement space.
