Lyon & Turnbull returns to the Mall Galleries this autumn with the latest edition of MODERN MADE, their dynamic cross-disciplinary auction celebrating the finest in 20th century and contemporary art, design, and craft.
This season’s sale continues to highlight the strength and diversity of studio ceramics, a cornerstone of the MODERN MADE series. Bringing together work by key figures in British studio pottery and contemporary makers alike, the auction reflects the vitality of the ceramic tradition, a discipline that continues to evolve today.
The sale features a broad range of modern ceramic work, from the refined forms of Dame Lucie Rie and John Ward to the grounded, functional approach of Bernard Leach and Michael Cardew. These are joined by later makers who continued to push the boundaries of the studio pottery tradition including Sir Grayson Perry and Pippin Drysdale.
As ever, ceramics sit at the heart of a broader MODERN MADE offering that includes post-war and contemporary art, design, and craft. This edition presents an opportunity to acquire works that represent the best in modern design and craftsmanship, from established names to emerging makers.
