Atelier DENSAN brings the best of Japan’s officially designated Densan crafts to Europe with a curated pop-up in London at Japanese craft store wagumi. Featuring makers from across Japan, the exhibitions offer rare access to regionally rooted techniques, materials, and objects — from lacquerware and ceramics to textiles, woodwork, and kokeshi dolls.
Ceramics on show include work from Akadu-Yaki, Hagi-Yaki, Hasami-yaki, Iga-Yaki, Mino-Yaki, Obori-Soma-Yaki, Seto-Sometsuke-Yaki, Tamba-Tachikui-Yaki and Yokkaichi-Banko-Yaki
Each event highlights crafts shaped by local nature, culture, and generations of skill. Today, 244 items are recognised under the Densan designation, reflecting exceptional heritage and regional identity. Atelier DENSAN promotes these traditions internationally, presenting items made to be used, enjoyed, and cherished.
