Black Atlantic Makers: Conversations, a celebration of the richness and diversity of Black making features the Tapestry of Black Britons that re-inscribes African and Caribbean presence into British history. Alongside the large textile work are a series of inter-generational dialogues in the four material areas of the Crafts Study Centre's collections: ceramics, wood, lettering and textiles. They emphasise continuity and divergence among Black makers, revealing how shared histories and diasporic connections give rise to a wide range of formal and conceptual expressions.
Curated by Paula Ogun Hector and Stephen Knott the show sees the work of leading contemporary Black makers including Ranti Bam displayed with established figures such as Magdalene Odundo, Ronald Moody, Lawson Oyekan and Althea McNish.
