Brentford
During the first lockdown in March 2020, ceramic sculptor Claire Ireland decided to create a project for friends, neighbours and fellow artists. She invited them to make a spoon in clay and the Brentford Spoon Project was born. Parcels of clay were given out to 80 participants locally and now the invitation has started to spread to makers further afield. More than seventy spoons have been created so far.
Claire says, “I have always loved the notion of a spoon, a simple, ordinary tool which is a part of our everyday life, yet at the same time arouses such a rich language of ceremony.”
