Jitka Palmer: Painting people & animals with slips, stains & underglazes

We are very excited to welcome Craft Potters Association selected member Jitka Palmer to Eastbourne Studio Pottery in March to lead a one day workshop sharing her practice of figurative painting on hand built vessels. We'll be working with slip, oxides and stains in a loose, expressive, narrative style, building layers of colour and detail.

We will provide flat tiles to experiment with colour before we start working on larger pieces. You can either bring along your own leather hard vessel or we can provide a press moulded leather hard plate for you to decorate.

Born in Prague, Jitka studied medicine and worked as an anatomist before moving to the UK in the 80's where she established her ceramics studio with the support of a Crafts Council setting up grant, Jitka has exhibited her work internationally.
