September/October 2024
South Arcade, Islington Square, 116 Upper Street, London N1 1AB
Launching on 22 February 2022 as part of the latest Kasama Potters Showcase (10 Feb - 20 March) at North London’s Islington Square, Kasama Collaborations will showcase an artistic array of new ceramic works.
In this collaborative effort, designers and potters have utilised a range of pottery techniques and craftsmanship to create innovative, design-focused pieces. Artist and designer Adam Nathaniel Furman, designer and textile artist Donna Wilson, ceramicist Reiko Kaneko, the restaurant Lucky Cat by Gordon Ramsay, and the London Flower School, have each collaborated with an accomplished Kasama potter.
Visitors to the Kasama Collaborations exhibition can expect inventive ceramic works that merge elements of both British and Japanese art and design. As well as the new pieces making up the Kasama Collaborations exhibit, there will also be a showcase and pop-up shop of new ceramic work at the Islington Square event. This will comprise original pieces from thirty-two Kasama potters, reflecting a discourse with British ceramic specialists.
The showcase is presented by the Kasama Potters Project and is part of Japan Brand, a scheme organised by Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI). Japan Brand supports the country’s small and medium-sized enterprises, helping them develop a presence overseas.
